Undergraduate School on Experimental Quantum Information Processing
Start the summer at the Undergraduate School on Experimental Quantum Information Processing (USEQIP), a two-week introduction to the theoretical and experimental study of quantum information processing. You will get the opportunity to interact with students from around the world, learn modern quantum science from IQC professors and work with real lab equipment in our unique Quantum Explorations Space. USEQIP is offered at no cost to students, with travel bursaries available.
- USEQIP 2025 will be held from May 26 to June 6, 2025.
- Applications are due Friday, January 3, 2025.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that attending USEQIP was one of the key opportunities that enabled the career I have today in quantum computing. USEQIP provided me with opportunities to learn about quantum computing from experts who were otherwise not available to me, and in them, I found a passion for the field.”

Undergraduate Research Award
After gaining a foundational understanding of quantum information science and technology at USEQIP, you have an opportunity to spend the summer with IQC through an Undergraduate Research Award (URA).
You will work with one of IQC’s researchers on innovative theoretical techniques or advanced laboratory experiments. Enhance your research experience, prepare for your graduate studies and research career, while getting the chance to attend IQC seminars, lectures, and student talks.
You can apply for USEQIP and a URA on the same application.
Apply before January 3, 2025.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
